\u00abEra primavera y, como usted ya sabe, primavera es la estaci\u00f3n de purga, as\u00ed que estaban todas las calles repletas de cad\u00e1veres de los gatos que se hab\u00edan matado durante la noche. En la parada unos ni\u00f1os se sentaban sobre los cuerpos\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Personas que desaparecen, pierden partes del cuerpo o se metamorfosean. Menores infractores con habilidades sobrehumanas. Hombres y mujeres del r\u00edo que nunca pueden librarse del olor a pescado. El Otro Monte, balneario de casas amarillas, se sit\u00faa en las afueras de Montevideo y casi nadie sabe que existe. Los vecinos, muy dispuestos a contar historias, son artistas brillantes porque crecen observando a la naturaleza y aprendiendo de ella su lenguaje po\u00e9tico. Las mujeres pueden parir animales, o transformarse en criaturas h\u00edbridas. La naturaleza de sus habitantes est\u00e1 en constante mutaci\u00f3n; el pueblo funciona con otras reglas.<\/p>\n

H\u00e9ctor, un forastero, recibir\u00e1 una casa en el Otro Monte como herencia de una t\u00eda de la que no recuerda saber nada. Persiguiendo sus huellas, ir\u00e1 descifrando los misterios de los pobladores, transcribiendo sus voces hasta formar este libro, porque conf\u00eda en que la escritura es una forma de salvarnos a todos de desaparecer.<\/p>\n

El resultado es una sorprendente amalgama de g\u00e9neros y voces narrativas que transita con naturalidad entre el horror y el costumbrismo, el humor y la tragedia. Los personajes se hacen carne frente a nuestros ojos y luego se difuminan hasta convertirse en algo radicalmente distinto. Selene H\u00e9kate es una gran creadora de atm\u00f3sferas que, en principio agradables o buc\u00f3licas, se van deshilachando de a poco hasta develar al Otro Monte como el hogar de las pesadillas m\u00e1s estremecedoras.<\/p>\n

Selene H\u00e9kate<\/strong>\u00a0tiene pesadillas y las escribe o las act\u00faa o las baila o las canta.<\/p>\n

Profesora de Literatura egresada del IPA, se form\u00f3 como artista en la Escuela Nacional de Arte L\u00edrico del Sodre y en otras instituciones donde hizo teatro y ballet. Fue parte de la Usina Literaria de Daniel Mella y es cantantautora de rock experimental en La Invenci\u00f3n de Morel. Descendiente de olimare\u00f1os y nacida en Buenos Aires en 1988, transcurri\u00f3 su infancia y adolescencia en el balneario Pajas Blancas, experiencia que inspir\u00f3 este libro.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
